“Piano Monkeys” by marasy is a dynamic piano-driven release presented on vinyl, showcasing the artist’s signature blend of energetic performances, intricate arrangements, and expressive musicality. Known for his virtuosic piano style, marasy delivers a collection that balances technical brilliance with emotional depth.
Pianist and composer marasy releases on vinyl his original piano solo album "Piano monkeys", which came out in November 2024. This is his 5th original piano solo album and his first in about four years since the previous album "Shinonome" (2020). It features piano solo arrangements, mainly of Vocaloid songs and tracks provided for TV, radio, and commercials released from 2020 to 2024, recorded live on a full-concert grand piano. The tracklist includes "Shinjinrui", which took 1st place in Niconico's The VOCALOID Collection 2023 Spring TOP100 ranking, "88", a song newly written for the smartphone game "Project Sekai Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku", and "Mugen no Ticket", a participating track from "Pokemon feat. Hatsune Miku Project VOLTAGE 18 Types/Songs", gathering representative Vocaloid songs of recent years as piano solos. It also contains media-linked tracks such as "Hometown", the ending theme for Tokai TV's "Ogiyahagi Terrace", "cutover", the TV commercial song for TerraSky Inc., and "Fly day", the theme song for Tokai Radio's "Creators", offering a panoramic view of the expanding scope of marasy's activities. All 17 songs are performed by marasy himself on grand piano. Another major feature is that it fully captures the live, natural sound including its ambience, from delicate touches to dynamic expression. For marasy, who is active mainly through video posts and streaming and boasts 900 million total plays and 2.05 million YouTube channel subscribers, this vinyl release marks a new challenge. Presenting sound as an experience of ownership, this work by a digital native generation pianist looks set to offer listeners a new way of engaging with music.
